LETTER TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS FROM SUPERINTENDENT JIM FRY:
CPPS Parents/Guardians,
Recently the CDC and Washington State Department of Health changed the guidelines for schools due to the data and research showing that schools are operating safely and have not contributed to the spread of COVID-19. Due to these changes, schools across our country and in the state of Washington are planning their full return to school all day in the near future.
College Place Public Schools plans to return on Monday, April 26, 2021 full time for all students in grades K-12. We will still have the option of "Full Remote" for the students who are already served in that mode right now. We are excited about this return, but still have a lot to adjust and prepare for our students' safe return to full time schooling.
In preparation, we want to let you know of some changes to the upcoming schedule that we want you to be able to plan for with your family:
*On Friday, April 16, 2021 CPPS will operate fully "Asynchronous" meaning teachers will push out assignments to students in advance, students will learn from home online, and teachers will only be available for support questions. This will allow us to spend a day getting ready. Meals will available as grab n' go at both sites from 11:45-1:00 p.m. and at Valle Lindo, and Homestead.
*On Friday, April 23, 2021 CPPS will have ALL students return onsite for an 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (Davis dismissal 12:10) school day as our official "dress rehearsal" for the 26th. Students will not have any afternoon learning activities that day.
I know that this decision will be met with much excitement, as well as some anxiety and fear, and can assure you we will continue to provide the safest, most excellent opportunities for your children here in College Place Public Schools.
Thanks,
Jim Fry
Superintendent
College Place Public Schools
