On October 27, 2021, the CPPS school board participated in a work session centered on effectively planning to handle the growth in College Place that is expected to continue at a steady rate and growing and improving the excellent programs and services the district offers students and the community.  The five-member team made up of Chair Mandy Thompson, Vice-Chair Troy Fitzgerald, and members Anne-Marie Bauman, Eva Brown, and Todd Stubblefield evaluated ensuring short and long stability in the district and levying an amount considerate of their fellow local taxpayers.

The board requested Superintendent Jim Fry put together a resolution for presentation and approval at the November 23, 2021 regular board meeting.  Superintendent Fry was asked to develop a resolution that would eliminate both the Technology & Safety and Transportation levies and set a single four-year Educational Programs & Operations Levy at $2.50/$1,000, $.10 lower than the current overall levied rate of $2.60/$1,000.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BOND AND A LEVY?

A Simple Way to Remember Is That Bonds = Building and Levies = Learning.

Bonds help pay for new buildings and the remodeling of buildings and levy dollars allows the district to provide programs and services that otherwise would not be funded through state and federal funding.
