For the second year in a row, College Place High School’s Talon Yearbook has earned a spot in the prestigious Jostens Look Book—an annual national showcase that highlights the best in student-led yearbook design and storytelling.
Following last year’s recognition for the Talon’s cover design, the 2024 edition honors a standout divider page crafted by one of our 2023–2024 Managing Editors and brought to life through the compelling photography of senior Mia Ferraro. This continued recognition places the Talon among the country’s top student publications and reflects the team’s ongoing pursuit of inclusive storytelling and professional-quality design.
Mia’s work speaks for itself. Her creative instinct and technical skill set her photography apart. Beyond the lens, Mia leads with vision—planning shoots, scouting locations, coordinating with peers, and selecting props—all while staying focused on capturing diverse voices and perspectives. Her dedication and artistry were also recognized last year when she was named a runner-up in the 2023 Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers Art Competition.
“Mia’s work exemplifies what makes our yearbook program so special,” said adviser Cathy Mebes. “She brings passion, precision, and a deep commitment to telling our school’s story in thoughtful, creative ways. I’m incredibly proud of her and the entire Talon staff. Earning this national recognition two years running speaks volumes about their talent and drive.”
Each year, Jostens publishes the Look Book to highlight standout yearbooks from across the nation—honoring the creativity, innovation, and storytelling of student journalists.
To mark the achievement, the Talon team received a copy of the Jostens Look Book 2024, along with a commemorative plaque and banner from Jostens.
