As we prepare for the possibility of ice and snowy conditions starting this afternoon and through tomorrow, here are a few reminders to our families.
\r\nBuses may be delayed in returning your students home.
\r\n Our buses are prepared for snowy conditions and drivers receive training on driving in adverse weather conditions. Our goal and top priority is to ensure the safe arrival of your student back home. Thank you for your patience in the event of any delays.
Afternoon and evening activities may be cancelled. \r\n The decision whether to cancel after-school activities will be made as early in the afternoon as possible.\r\n
\r\nSchool delays and cancellations. \r\n Road conditions in the district can vary depending on where you live. Our district makes the decision to delay or cancel school based on if we believe the buses can safely transport children. We support a parent’s or guardian’s decision to pick their child up early or to not send their child to school. Absences will be considered excused with a signed note\r\n
\r\nIf a decision is made to delay or cancel school due to inclement weather, CPPS will make every effort to announce closures or delays by 6:00 a.m. If conditions change or worsen after the decision is made to delay school, it is possible that the district may cancel school. We will try to make a final decision by 7:00 am. \r\n
\r\nIf there is no mention on the district website of delays or closures, schools are running on time.\r\n
\r\nPLEASE REMEMBER TO REFRESH YOUR COMPUTER FREQUENTLY FOR CURRENT SCHOOL DELAY AND CLOSURE UPDATES.\r\n
\r\nHow to Stay Informed\r\n
\r\n Receive texts, emails, and phone calls \r\n
\r\n Make sure your phone number is correct in Skyward Family Access under Family Information. If you want messages sent to your cell phone, you must make sure that Phone 1 is your cell phone number.

What happens with a 2-Hour delay?
\r\n If the district calls a 2-hour delay, there is still the possibility it could change to closure if conditions worsen. Please continue to check the website frequently for any updates.
If school is delayed, buses will run on a 2-hour delay from normal pick-up times and breakfast service and morning preschool will be canceled. Afternoon preschool would still operate during a 2-hour delay. \r\n
\r\n \r\n What happens When School is closed?
\r\n Athletics, After-School Activities and Other School Events. If school is closed, all out-of-district transportation, meetings, field trips, after-school activities, practices, and games will be canceled for the day unless otherwise announced. All evening meetings and events scheduled to take place in district facilities will also be canceled.\r\n
