Due to city and county COVID-19 conditions, it is necessary for CPPS to continue in Full Remote Learning through December 22, 2020. During the current 14-day window, the City of College Place and Walla Walla County have seen COVID cases spike to 96 and 489 respectively; which are ten times the threshold set by the state for safe onsite in-person instruction. The current situation is far worse than the negative conditions that caused us to return to Full Remote Learning November 9th and has pushed us to continue in this mode. We will continue to monitor county and city conditions with an anticipated return to our Hybrid Learning Model on Monday, January 4, 2021. We are hopeful that the upward trend does not continue, however, we are concerned about the impact of the upcoming holiday season on our return. CPPS is appreciative of our community members who are battling these hard times as well and will continue to do everything we can to return onsite as soon as it is safe to do so.

We strongly encourage all parents/guardians to submit a Meal Application . Completing an application takes less than 10 minutes, and parents only need to complete one Meal Application. Families can complete meal applications online in Skyward. Once you submit an application, you will receive a notice in the mail as to whether your child/children can receive free or reduced-price meals. EVERY ELIGIBLE FORM COUNTS! Every eligible form that is not submitted means lost resources for our schools. Submit your completed application as soon as possible to help make sure it counts toward potential new funding for our school this year.

The county saw 109 new cases over the weekend and 293 in the prior 14 days with at least 56 of those in the city of College Place. Davis Elementary is poised to complete a successful first week of Hybrid learning this Friday! It has been a long time coming, and it is SO GOOD to have our Dragons back together. The staff is on it, and the kids are showing an unprecedented level of responsibility and integrity when it comes to following the new rules. We are so appreciative of the trust our parents and community have placed upon us to keep our students safe as we continue to navigate the pandemic. Here's to working together; to stepping up to new challenges; and to affirming that yes...we can in fact do hard things. We Are Davis! ¡Somos Davis!

CPPS Community, As you may be aware, state Superintendent Chris Reykdal announced guidance today for school districts for resuming school Fall 2020. The goal is that schools will return onsite face-to-face for the 2020-2021 school year with numerous safety requirements and in alignment with local health department recommendations. I want to assure you that CPPS is working to plan and prepare to welcome our students back safely in the fall. We fully understand that parents have a variety of concerns and for some an in-person return may not be an option. We have teams working on all the possible scenarios and will have onsite and remote options for all of our awesome students in College Place for the fall of 2020! I realize that these are unprecedented times, but the obstacles face are no match for our commitment to ensuring that our students get the learning opportunities, the tools, and the support they deserve.
