Hawks Wrestling

Congratulations to the CPHS Hawks Wrestling Team on a great season! Many firsts for the program, such at there appearance at the State Mat Classic! See some details below!

From Coach Mike Holden:CPHS Wrestling had a full schedule this year with 4 duals and 7 Tournaments. We had 3 returning wrestlers and we welcomed 4 new wrestlers, we found out that we are a tournament style wrestling team and we had individuals that placed in every tournament we went to and several in the championship matches in several tournaments. We worked hard through the year and we saw the difference midway thru our season when we looked back and compared it to our inaugural season 2017-2018.

Last year we went into Districts Tournament with all our wrestlers seeded last, and one wrestler placing 3rd and going to regionals, and another as an alternate. This year we go into the District Tournament with two #2 seeds, a #3 seed, two #5 seeds and a #7 seed. Coming out of that tournament we had a 2nd place finisher and 2-3rd place finishers which those three qualified for State as CPHS Wrestling's first ever State Qualifiers.

Highlights of the season were our placings at districts and going to state! It was a great atmosphere to be apart of with 10,000+ people in attendance each day of the tournament it was very humbling to be apart of it and to watch these boys wrestle there hearts out and represent CPHS and our Community.

I would also like to recognize our Sager Middle School program and their Head Coach Jordan Breithaupt for being the SCAC Middle School Coach Of The Year!

Hawks Girls Basketball

The Lady Hawks Basketball Team wrapped up their season with a loss to Zillah in the 2nd round of the District Tournament. This was the first appearance for the Hawks Girls Basketball Team in School History!

Season Record 12-10 Overall, 6-6 in Conference (best in CPHS history)

From Coach Julie Hill:
As we end the 2018-19 basketball season, I look back on it with gratitude and a sense of encouragement. I'm grateful to have had the chance to work with this group of girls this season. They had a strong desire to improve on where we ended last year. They did a lot of work over the summer to come in ready for the season. These girls treat each other and me with respect and they really cared about each other. That makes it easier to coach them and makes them enjoy playing together. They were able to accomplish our first winning season and our first district playoff appearance. I'm proud of them for their efforts to get to this point. However, we are not satisfied with just "making it to districts"! We are looking forward with encouragement to future seasons where we know we can go farther! Thank you to all the parents, families and fans for your support!

Hawks Boys Basketball

The Hawks Boys Basketball Team wrapped up their season with a loss to Naches Valley in the 2nd round of the District Tournament. This was the first appearance for the Hawks Boys Basketball Team in School History!

Season Record 8-14 Overall, 6-6 in Conference (best in CPHS history)

From Coach Paul Jessup:

In our second year together, moving on from our first class of seniors, there were a variety of anticipations, expectations and flat out curiosities.  From day one with try-outs, our young men were positively competing.  It was clear our student-athletes were ready to build on the foundation of successes from last year. Once our rosters were set, roles were established and who we are as a program and team were solidified early.  That is the best of what has come out of this season. Program wide, student-athletes have continued our cultural musts on and off the court. Secondly, our student-athletes continued to grow together and fulfilled this years' motto of "grind" as they pushed each other in the classroom and on the court.  At the end of the day, I believe our culture, our mindset of "grind" and our student-athletes starring in their respective roles saw our most successful season in the win-loss column program wide.  The next step is to not be satisfied with growing each and every day as young-men, as a team, as a program and as a student-athlete as a whole.

WAY TO GO HAWKS!
