COVID-19 Update - CPPS Schools To Close

This message is to inform you that the College Place School District will be closed beginning Monday, March 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, we expect the closure to extend through April 24. We will reevaluate any further closures during that time. This decision comes at the direction of the Washington State Governor Jay Inslee.

\r\n

We want to reiterate that there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in the College Place School District at this time

\r\n

What This Means for Students

\r\n

Today, Friday, March 13, students will be instructed to collect learning materials that they might need and bring home any personal items they might want while schools are closed.

\r\n

Beginning on Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 24, our schools will be closed to students. Our school buildings will continue to be open for staff and our district office will remain open for school district operations.

\r\n

We are not currently planning to replace core instruction with online learning but rather we will provide additional activities that are made to provide students and parents with opportunities to extend and continue their learning beyond the classroom during the school closure. Student learning is an important journey and we want students to continue on their path.

\r\n

More information about these additional learning opportunities will be shared in the coming days.

\r\n

We are finalizing plans to support our families during the closure in the following ways:

\r\n
  • Providing technology resources and technology support

  • Providing nutrition services

  • Providing childcare for our families of healthcare workers and first responders who need to continue working during our closure

\r\n

We understand that this plan will create hardship for many families, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation.

\r\n

Public Health Guidance

\r\n

We encourage you to continue to follow existing guidelines to protect your own health.

The Centers for Disease Control recommends:

  • Stay home if sick
