School Bus

The College Place Public School Board of Directors voted unanimously at a special board meeting Tuesday night to propose a two-year excess levy to support the District’s Transportation Fund.

The levy would replace the expiring Transportation Levy that was approved in 2018.  The levy will support the growing transportation needs in the district with the $0.10 per $1,000 of assessed valuation providing an aggregate amount of $120,000 per year of the two-year levy.

College Place Public School Superintendent Jim Fry stated, “We have seen a 21% increase in enrollment and 12% increase in bus ridership across our district the past three years.  Our needs are growing faster than the state funding model supports us to add new buses to our fleet. By combining these levied funds with state and local funds we will be able to add a couple of daily route buses, an additional extracurricular trip bus, and a bus for our students with disabilities.  College Place Public Schools is growing and changing in many ways and this levy will allow us to keep up with that growth and serve students.”

The special election will be conducted by mail ballot. Ballots will be mailed on January 22, 2020. The election date is February 11, 2020.
