SCIENCE OLYMPIAD 2017

Seventh and eighth grade students from Sager Middle School competed in their 2nd annual 2017 Science Olympiad Regional Tournament at Yakima Valley College on February 25. Fifteen students, three teachers, and an adult volunteer traveled to Yakima for the competition.  

Science Olympiad is a national organization dedicated to improving science education, increasing student interest in science, and creating a technologically-literate workforce. This year, there were 408 entries from 17 schools. Our Sager team ranked in the top ten in four out of the six events we entered. The following students are recognized for their outstanding achievements:

Mayci Applegate & Kati Kackman Towers 5TH place

Edgar Cazarez, Adrian Kelsay, Daniel Faggard Mission Possible 8TH place

Landon Davis, Omar Lara, Alex Smith, Colton Rounds Bottle Rockets 9th place

Gabe Talbert, Logan Parm Scrambler 9th place

Josh Swanson, Austin Broadbent Hovercraft 11th place

Overall, Sager students ranked 7th out of 14 schools that participated in their events. The entire school is very proud of this Sager team. They will be planning and participating in a school-wide Science Olympiad in June.
