As the 2009-2010 school year begins, both the Sager and Meadow Brook staff would like to welcome students and families and encourage parent involvement. Throughout the year there will be opportunities for involvement in many wonderful programs at both schools. This includes helping update our School Improvement Plans, accompanying students during off campus events, and helping with fundraising activities. Finally, any help or support you can provide to our individual teachers or extra curricular activities is also welcomed.
Both Sager and Meadow Brook continue to utilize a grant entitled 21 st Century Programs. These grant funds are used to create an extended day program for our students. Returning as the 21 st Century Program Coordinator, again this year, is Mrs. Sasha Ferraro. The program is called “The Groove” and is offered from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Monday thru Thursday for students in grades 4-8. There are a variety of exciting and fun activities offered for students. “The Groove” offers tutoring for students seeking additional assistance in any of their classes. For more information contact Mrs. Ferraro at sferraro@cpps.org .
WSU Gear Up works very closely with our 21 st Century Grant Program by providing staffing, materials, training and professional development. The critical support Gear Up provides on a daily basis and throughout the school year is crucial to the growth, development and success of many of our students at both Meadow Brook and Sager Middle Schools . Gear Up currently offers tutoring for Sager students during the lunch / recess time. This is a great opportunity for students to get some extra help with their assignments.
Staff members at both schools are well trained professionals, committed to providing the finest education possible and to providing a safe and secure environment. Both parent and student input helps ensure that students have many opportunities to focus on their academic and social growth. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to contact either school office.
