Media Class Partnerships Prove Priceless

\r\n

Spectrum Reach (formerly Charter Communications) has partnered with Media 1 Communications Classes again on an exciting project this spring. Executives offered the class the unique opportunity to write, pitch and potentially produce commercials that will be placed on Spectrum Reach Cable.

Spectrum Reach Advertising Executive Christine Erb and Creative Services Account Planner Alison Manka met with the CPHS Media Classes throughout the late winter and students were thrilled to be part of this partnership project.

Erb shared that each Media 1 class would be broken into 4 groups representing 4 local businesses.  Students would have full creative control of commercial spots for Hot Mama's, Big Cheese Pizza, Allegro Cyclery and Wall 2 Wall Furniture. Students rose to the challenge, doing research on each business, examining their past and current advertising trends and visiting the businesses. Students pitched very creative commercial concepts to the business owners and even created slogans/tag lines that we feel could be used by the businesses for years to come. “What an incredible experience for our students. Not only are students gaining business, marketing, public relations, advertising experience in Media Communications courses but their projects will serve as a beneficial portfolio piece and asset to their resume." added Cathy Mebes, Media Instructor.

Last week a winning concept was chosen to move forward to the production phase.  In early June, students will work with Spectrum Reach Producers, Videographers and Editors to create their commercials.  Hot Mama's concept was chosen from 4th period and business owners were elated to be part of this incredible partnership project.  The College Place Fire Department will also partner with CPHS on this project.  We are grateful for their support.

Last year students helped produce a commercial for Blazing Guitars.  Blazing Guitars Commercial can be seen here and was placed on Spectrum Cable channels and seen by hundreds of thousands.

We are grateful to have the support of our community as they have so much knowledge, experience and encouragement to offer our students.  Go Hawks! #CPHAWKSMEDIA #CPHawks
