Media 1 students applied and competed for positions last week. Students applied for positions such as Producer, Associate Producer, Editor and Reporter. Students just wrapped up a chapter on the 7 News Values to include proximity, timeliness, human interest, conflict, impact, prominence and oddity. Once students were awarded positions, reporters researched and pitched their homecoming story concepts in the formal, systematic newsroom method. Reporters pitched their story concepts to the Producers, Associate Producers and Editors. Some students will write stories, others will report upcoming events during homecoming and/or will cover the winners of events such as Buff Puff, Powder Puff etc. Students will gain valuable hands-on news reporting and advertising experience as they function as a professional news team for the next three weeks. #CPHawks #CPHawksMedia
